*Notice: Open House has been cancelled for the 2020 year

OWL’s annual Open House allows you to get a behind the scenes look of one of the busiest raptor rehabilitation centres in Canada. This is the only time that we open up 70% of the facility for the public to get a peek at our medical facility and some of our various rehabilitation enclosures and see the process from intake and examination, to the flight pens, and then release. Come meet our local raptor species and learn about what we do at OWL and check out what else we have going on for the day!

The highlight of the Open House will be the release of a rehabilitated bird on both days at 1pm. Tours will leave on every half hour and there will be three Raptor Meet and Greets at 12pm, 1:30p, and 2pm each day where you can get a more close up view of some of our permanent residents. Come listen to David Hancock talk about Bald Eagles both days at 11am in the School House. After you visit with some of our birds, take a walk through the Wildlife Museum to learn about different raptor habitats and check out the unique gifts and wildlife theme items we have available in our Gift Shop! There will also be a raffle fundraiser with some awesome prizes from local sponsors.

The Kids Zone will have a fishing for ducks game where you can win a prize, a plant station where you can take your own flower of vegetable home, and other games.

Come check out the other environmental and animal charities that will be joining us with informative displays and learn about the great work they do around the community! Food and drinks will be provided this year by The Boundary Bay Lion’s Food Truck and GYPSYtrunk Vegan Food Cart & Catering.

Parking
Please check back for more information.

Pets
As much as you may love your pets and I’m sure we would too, for their safety and the comfort of other visitors and our resident birds, please leave your pets at home. Thank you!

Admission
Admission is by donation at the gate and we accept debit and credit.

100% of the proceeds of the event are put towards food, medical supplies, cage upkeep, and facility growth. This is a great opportunity to help OWL and their dedication to the well being of our raptors and getting them back to the wild and to learn more about what we do.

Please share this event around and we hope to see you there!

OWL in the Classroom – It was a magnificent presentation because the presenter was kind, knowledgeable, professional and humorous! There were many visuals (with and without artifacts) which helped a great deal with students who needed it. And of course, the raptors – amazing creatures. OWL, thanks for giving us the opportunity to learn about these birds. Keep up the amazing work at the rehab centre, too! Donations will definitely be coming your way when we visit!!
